Americas HR Specialist

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an energetic, tenacious HR Specialist with prior EdTech or SaaS experience to join our HR team in a full time hybrid work from home/in office role based in the Portland Metro area. In this role, you will have responsibility for the employee experience from hire to exit for members of our Americas region.  This would include onboarding/offboarding, L&D and culture.  You will also work in partnership with our Global HR team on company wide initiatives.  The right candidate will be a self-starter able to stay focused on their priorities while still working within a highly collaborative team, and who is willing to be creative and think outside of the box while still aligning their work with broader team and company goals.

Key Responsibilities 

Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Organize, streamline and oversee the onboarding process for new hires.
  • Tailor onboarding to meet the differing needs of various groups of employees.
  • Provide and maintain necessary employee paperwork and system access.
  • Work with various departments to coordinate the first day through probationary period training.
  • Coordinate the smooth transition of employees out of the company to minimize loss of institutional knowledge.

Learning & Development

  • Partner with employees, managers and leadership to assess training and development needs across the Americas Business Unit.
  • Create, organize, plan and present various forms of L&D programs to fulfill employees specific needs to maintain or improve job skills.
  • Evaluate program efficiency through assessment, surveys & feedback.
  • Maintain records of L&D activities, attendance, costs, results of tests and assessments.
  • Ensures skills are actualized, utilized and shared across the organization.
  • Facilitate, evaluate and improve employee bi-annual review process.

Culture

  • Develop and deliver a culture strategy that promotes DEI best practices.
  • Implement and audit organizational/HR practices to ensure global/cultural sensitivity.
  • Design, build and deliver internal marketing and embed company values, habits & routines into daily activities.
  • Lead colleagues across the organization to positively influence culture through learning and social events.

Human Resources

  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Performs other HR duties as assigned.

This position is a hybrid work from home/in office position based in Portland, Oregon.

REQUIREMENTS

Prior Experience & Requirements

  • Bachelors degree preferably in Human Resources or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years prior experience required.
  • SHRM-CP preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of laws, regulations, and guidelines related to HR.
  • Interest in EdTech and desire to make life better for students and schools.
