Compensation Analyst

Purpose

Develops, implements and administers pay structures, policies, programs and practices including base pay, salary administration, wage and salary surveys, job descriptions and evaluations, salary/market pricing analysis, and incentive or pay-for-performance programs.  Utilizes a variety of analytical-based tasks to ensure the compensation practices, strategies, programs, and policies/procedures of the Company are both compliant and competitive.  Conducts market research and analysis, internal equity analysis, annual merit review administration including ad-hoc studies and/or projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administers compensation policies and programs
  • Reviews compensation-related structures, programs, policies, and practices, and recommends changes to ensure the overall strategy of the Company remains current and competitive
  • Provides guidance and support to managers and Human Resources team in navigating the HCM system as needed
  • Analyzes compensation related issues for internal equity
  • Participates in compensation surveys for job matching and analysis, benchmarking and market pricing
  • Produces, distributes, and analyzes annual salary administration
  • Converts compensation-related data into meaningful reports for key internal stakeholders
  • Analyzes market data for competitive local job pricing
  • Reviews U.S. and Canada compensation data and practices to ensure policies and programs are consistent with Company compensation philosophy
  • Maintains an awareness of external trends and best practices
  • Conducts special compensation projects as requested
  • Works with Human Resources to ensure all compensation programs and practices remain in compliance with U.S federal, state, local law, and does similar for Canada/Ontario province law as requested
  • Assists managers and Human Resources team with the design and content of job descriptions, including creating and/or reviewing new and revised job descriptions for content
  • Reviews proposed job titles and recommends alternative titles when appropriate. Assists in coordinating job title consistency throughout organization where appropriate
  • Evaluates finalized job descriptions to determine FLSA exemptions and salary range classifications
  • Creates and manages position titles and job codes in HCM system
  • May assist with federal and state reporting
  • Other duties as assigned

 Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, OR an equivalent amount of experience, education, and training
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards in dealing with confidential information
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent listening, written and verbal communications skills
  • Must be self-directed, able to meet deadlines, and work independently
  • Maintain composure in high-pressure situations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel
  • Willing to expand education/training
  • Ability to work in and maintain a highly functional team environment
  • Experience with compensation research and data analysis as they relate to compliance requirements

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years’ experience in compensation analysis, with Canada experience a plus
  • Experience using the latest compensation analysis tools
  • Experience with job analysis/evaluation
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation
