About This Opportunity

We are seeking a Director of People. This is a senior level management role responsible for leading all organization-wide People and HR strategies to support Cascade Energy’s culture and strategic business plans and optimize the benefits of an ESOP structure. This includes Talent Acquisition, Compensation and Benefits, Performance Management, Employee Relations, DEIA strategy, Human Resource systems, Learning and Development, Policies and Processes, and Compliance.

The Director of People will lead a team of 5-7 employees and will assess, lead, and mentor team members to provide the business with support and programming needed to attract the right talent, keep employees engaged and learning, and promote internal mobility and retention as Cascade grows.

What You Will Be Doing:

Lead the People/HR Function

  • Lead Cascade’s People Strategy and Culture
    • Drive strategy and tactics to support employee engagement and our Values in Action
    • Build and articulate employee proposition around the ESOP structure
    • Drive internal Communications and change management efforts
  • Drive People Programs, Processes, and Operations
    • Oversee day to day HR Operations to support all employees
    • Drive strategy, program design, and execution in all areas of HR:
      • Diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging
      • Talent Acquisition and onboarding
      • Talent management, including internal mobility, career ladders
      • Learning and Development
      • Employee relations
    • Establish, reinforce, and maintain HR Policies and Procedures
  • Resource Planning and Leading the People Team
    • Assess and plan the work, structure, and roles of the People function
    • Manage budget and resources
    • Provide mentoring, management, leadership, and team development
  • Optimize and Mature the People and HR Functions
    • Scope, prioritize, plan, and lead the implementation and change management of the People/HR related initiatives across the company
    • Build systemic, scalable operations to build institutional knowledge

Executive Management

  • Participates as a member of Cascade’s Leadership Team
  • Direct the People Team in the implementation of strategies short-and long-range plans as initiated by the CEO, Board, and Leadership Team
  • Consults with relevant departments and managers prior to recommending and establishing new policies to ensure the availability of support and resources
  • Develops, improves, and monitors management techniques, applying continuous quality improvement to all parts of the organization to enhance the brand and improve profitability
  • Provides assistance to supervisory personnel in establishing department philosophy and objectives related to staffing and performance standards, policies and procedures, job classifications, and compliance with governmental regulations
  • Leads, participates in, and coordinates other special initiatives and activities at the direction of the CEO and Leadership Team

This is a full-time, exempt position to be located in the preferred location of Portland, OR. We are also open to non-Portland candidates in proximity to other office locations.  However, travel may be up to 60 days per year or more.  This would include in-person visits to corporate headquarters in Portland, several times per month, regular in-person visitation with key business and association contacts or teams, and participation in key industry events, conferences, and meetings.

Qualifications

Applicants for this role are required to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years progressive HR leadership experience, with 4-5 years leading an HR function
  • Experience as an HR Business Partner or similar role supporting executives and/or senior leadership for a company with more than 250 employees
  • Experience with ESOPs preferred

  • Uncompromised personal integrity, fairness, and commitment to the appropriate level of confidentiality
  • High emotional intelligence and excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication
  • Proven expertise and experience in DEIA strategy and operations
  • Demonstrated ability to set a vision, build a strategy, and lead and grow a team

Compensation & Benefits

Our total rewards include competitive pay and excellent benefits. These include health (90% paid for team member, 70% paid for dependents on HDHP plans and 85% paid for team member, 65% paid for dependents on PPO plans),  vision, FSA or HSA options with an employer contribution, life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, paid parental leave, 401k retirement plan with a guaranteed 3% contribution, Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP), annual cash performance bonus, paid vacation, sick time, and an inclusive, flexible paid holiday policy. New for 2024 – we are excited to add an additional wellbeing contribution of $500 for HSA, FSA, or LSA (Lifestyle Spending Account).

 

The salary range for this position in Portland OR is $123,000 – $166,000/year. However, final salary offered may vary depending on non-discriminatory factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experiences, and geographical location if different than the above.
