HR Generalist

Position Summary

As an integral part of the HR team, the HR Generalist will undertake a wide range of HR responsibilities in support of employees and the company.  The HR Generalist will be responsible for talent acquisition by partnering with Hiring Managers, creating job postings, sourcing candidates, conducting interviews and onboarding new hires. The role will also provide a mix of tactical and strategic support to the HR team in the areas of data reporting and HR metrics, leave management, oversight of workers compensation claims, management of departmental expenses and so much more. Use Human Resources systems to ensure all employee records are up-to-date and confidential. Act as a primary point of contact for employees’ queries on HR-related topics.

  • Monitor employee morale and company culture; support employee recognition, consultation, communication, and cultural
  • Respond to human resources-related inquiries, providing support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves, policy, procedure, compensation, and resolve or escalate issues that may arise
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law and compliance requirements
  • Conduct regular employee handbook review and updates as needed
  • Assist Safety Program and Workers Comp / Return to Work processes
  • Lead employee performance management processes including promotions, employee evaluation and appraisals
  • Gather, analyze, and report data using HR metrics in support of strategic goals
  • Engage in other HR competencies (leave management, recruitment/onboarding, relationship management, staffing agency partnerships)
  • Contribute to and/or lead HR projects, including process improvements, employee programs and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Lead recruiting efforts for full time and temporary needs
  • Conducts exit interviews
  • Contribute toward general administrative tasks in the department
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Represent Planar with the highest standard of professional conduct when interacting with employees and community

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree and at least three (3) years of human resources experience, or a similar combination of education and experience
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the human resources field
  • Understanding of state and federal employment regulations including FMLA, ADA, AAP, FLSA, EEOC and OFCCP
  • Awareness of OSHA regulations and compliance
  • Understanding of personnel and compliance records management
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft products including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Effective communication and consistent follow-up with employees
  • Exceptional organizational, attention to detail, and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently, completing work within established timeframes
  • A change agent who can implement new programs in a fast-paced growth environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills essential
  • Positive and helpful in support of company and employees
  • Willing to handle a wide variety of tasks that range from administrative to tactical/strategic HR support
  • Must be proficient with ADP HRIS system
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Experience in high-tech manufacturing industry preferred
