HR Generalist

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION

The HR Generalist will research, develop, and implement effective recruiting and staffing strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified and capable talent. This position handles full cycle employment coordination from job description to onboarding and leads training and development for staff and supervisors.

 

This exempt position reports to the Associate Director of HR and compensation begins at $55k with consideration for experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Employment Administration 

  • Develop, facilitate, and implement all phases of the recruitment process
  • Collaborate with department managers to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria
  • Identify and implement efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the available role, industry standards, and the needs of the organization
  • Manage job posting and advertising processes in locations required to ensure compliance with Affirmative Action
  • Collaborate with the hiring manager and/or other human resource staff during the offer process, identifying and recommending salary ranges, incentives, start dates, and other pertinent details
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies
  • Conduct background checks, reference checks, and employee eligibility verifications

 

Training and Development

  • Lead and facilitate New Employee Orientations
  • Develop, lead and facilitate Search Chair and Committee Trainings
  • Lead and facilitate Supervisor Trainings and monthly email communication in collaboration with the AVP of HR
  • Monitor and adapt training and development for effectiveness and intended impact

 

Support Departmental Objectives 

  • Build, adapt, and maintain tools and reports
  • Suggest strategies for process improvements
  • Develop and maintain documentation and standards
  • Support change management processes within the department
  • Train new and existing employees on systems and processes
  • Provide support and advice on cross-functional projects
  • Participate in team meetings; provide knowledge, support, and advice for interdepartmental process improvements, projects, or policy revisions
  • Ensures accurate interpretation, adherence, and communication of college policies

 

Other duties as assigned by the AVP & CHRO

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in Human Resource administration
  • Two years of Human Resources experience preferred
  • Human Resources Certification preferred
  • Workday experience preferred

WORK  SCHEDULE

  • Full Time
  • 37.5 hours/week

PAY RATE

  • Starting at $55,000 per year with consideration for experience

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • General office environment
  • Regular office hours
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer
  • Communicate effectively via phone, email, online meetings, and in person
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
