  • Assist supervisors and managers with coaching and counseling on employee productivity, developmental opportunities and progressive performance remedies
  • Work collaboratively with managers and senior Business Partners in leading pre-disciplinary and disciplinary meetings
  • Conduct various employee investigations including but not limited to: harassment, discrimination, retaliation, ADA accommodations, ethics violation, threats, EEOC/ BOLI complaints
  • Interpret and convey Human Resources policies, collective bargaining agreements (CBA) language and laws and regulations related to performance management
  • Assist and support management and employees with responsibilities for employee relations function ensuring balance of employee and management needs
  • Investigate employee complaints and manage the investigation process when outside resources are being utilized
  • Support the organization by collaborating with other HR professionals with the design, development and implementation of various Port-wide programs and initiatives
  • Provide support of the ongoing and continuous improvement of New Employee Experience program


  • 5 plus years of professional experience in human resources, Bachelor’s degree in human resources; business administration, OR any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties (required)
  • Demonstrated leadership, judgment, and industry competence
  • Knowledge of employee relations and labor relations principles and practices
  • Experience in employment and labor laws and regulations (e.g. EEO, AA, ADA, FMLA, etc.)
  • Experience administering organization policies, contract and policy interpretation and past practices
  • Mediation and other dispute resolution systems and techniques experience
  • Knowledge of human resources policies, human resources functions and systems such as performance management, recruitment and selection, compensation, benefits, payroll and wage and hour law
  • PHR/SPHR and HR-related certifications a plus

  • Providing relatable HR recommendations, negotiations, coaching and group presentations both virtually and in person
  • Communication both written and verbally, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Highly skilled at organizing workload and prioritizing tasks to meet changing priorities and deadlines with frequent interruptions and multiple clients
  • Working independently, identify issues, developing possible solutions and preparing accurate and detailed documentation

Ability to:
