Human Resources Talent Associate- School of Nursing

Department Overview

The School of Nursing shares the mission of Oregon Health & Science University to provide educational programs, basic and clinical research, high quality care, and community programs. The HR Associate is the department support for recruitment and onboarding. The HR Associate has ownership of student hiring, including work-study students and GRU employees. The incumbent will take ownership of candidate sourcing for hard to fill faculty positions with an eye towards increasing the diversity of our employees. Additionally, this position also serves as a contact for any general human resources questions or employee concerns that arise, including working with managers, supervisors, employees and applicants on a variety of human resources matters.

 

The incumbent will help implement strategic initiatives as directed by the HR Manager to 1. better position HR as a change agent within the School of Nursing and OHSU, and 2. implement strategic objectives related to increased workforce diversity and building an anti-racist workplace.  All members of the HR Team interface regularly with other OHSU service centers (HR Records, Payroll, Benefits, Transportation & Parking, and other HR service groups).

 

The successful candidate will possess: the ability to multitask and process high volumes with accuracy; sound judgement and independent thinking; a high degree of accountability; demonstrated success sourcing hard to fill positions; strong interpersonal and relational skills; a commitment to workplace diversity, equalizing the hiring process by addressing systemic barriers and implicit bias, and an interest in transforming OHSU to an anti-racist organization.

Function/Duties of Position

Highlighted duties include:

Recruitment and Hiring: Source applicants for hard to fill positions with a focus on faculty, including developing community and college partnerships, sourcing through social media, selecting appropriate job boards, and working with communications to provide targeted ads.

Generalist:  Work with HRM, managers, supervisors, employees and applicants on a variety of human resources generalist matters including but not limited to hiring practices, interviewing techniques, promotion and transfer requirements, salary progression, performance appraisal processes, leave accrual and management parameters, etc. Assist with or refers to appropriate resources for employee and labor relation questions, Benefits and retirements, and other questions that may arise

Training and Development: Plans and delivers SON New Employee Orientation on a regular schedule. Provides training to managers on recruitment process and other HR processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent education/experience
  • 2 years of HR or similar experience.
  • Demonstrated communication skills including the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds, as well as the ability to effectively diffuse upset or angry persons.
  • Previous experience recruiting and sourcing hard-to-fill positions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with collective bargaining work environment .
  • Experience working in an academic setting.
