Part Time HR Payroll & Benefits Specialist

Summary: The HR Payroll & Benefits Specialist is responsible for a variety of HR daily operations including payroll processing, HRIS management, workers compensation, benefit administration, employee relations, as well as HR reporting and special administrative projects. Hours include 4-8 hours per day totaling 24 hours per week (up to 30 hours/week during high business needs).

Location: Portland, OR

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be payroll back up for HR Specialist. Accomplish full-cycle of payroll in ADP Workforce Now, including health benefits.
  • Process FMLA paperwork (states include OR, CA, WA etc.)
  • Assist with Short-Term Disability forms and follow up with employees, managers and provide update
  • Assist with health benefits Open Enrollment. Manage new employee orientation and explain health benefits programs
  • May manage committees on wellness, health and safety, culture, and communications as needed
  • Administer worker’s compensation claims, track work injuries, and provide follow up to mangers and VP of HR
  • Assist with appropriate disciplinary action for employees who violate rules and regulations
  • Other duties may be as assigned

Human Resources Generalist Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a Human Resources Generalist role, or equivalent experience
  • Full-cycle payroll experience is required
  • Highly adaptable to rapid growth and change
  • 2+ years of current ADP Workforce Now software experience required
  • Ability to communicate, both written and verbal
  • Extensive knowledge of HR practices in CA, OR, & WA
  • Experience distributing new benefits for 200-300 people
  • Excellent computer skills, knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping
  • Possesses superb written and spoken communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills
  • Organized and efficient in daily tasks
  • HR applicants require a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field, or extensive prior experience in human resources
  • General knowledge of employment laws and best practices
