One of the most interesting conversations I had a the NHRMA conference a few months ago was with Todd Montgomery, a professor at OSU, regarding the use of virtual reality technology for employee training.
The first VR training his team developed is customer service training for the hospitality industry. That industry has high turnover and the need for employees with soft skills like communication and problem solving. This provides an opportunity for impactful training experiences that give realistic experiences to new employees and can be repeated as often as needed.

I look forward to seeing how this training impacts employee engagement and customer satisfaction in the hospitality industry. I can imagine many more situations where this type of training methodology could be powerful!
