Facilitating Effective Meetings

The session will review the key skills used in facilitating a meeting. Emphasis will be on the role of an HR professional working as a neutral facilitator and assisting stake holders in making decisions. This 90 minute session will present key highlights from Lenny’s full day course on facilitating effective meetings. During the session participants will have an opportunity to discuss current frustrations with meetings they attend and learn skills to ensure meetings stay on track, use time effectively, and accomplish goals. Specific skills and techniques used by facilitators will be provided as a model to use for creating helpful agendas.
1. Identify four primary responsibilities of a neutral facilitator.
2. Identify how HR professionals can assist decision makers in dealing with differences
and reaching consensus.
3. Describe techniques for dealing with difficult behaviors and preventing meetings
from getting off track.
About the speaker:
Lenny has been a trainer and meeting facilitator in the Portland area for over 30 years. He specializes in classes on communication and problem solving skills, meeting facilitation, instructor training and giving business presentations. He also facilitates team building programs and staff retreats and is a certified DiSC distributor. Lenny’s classes are known for providing skills that can be applied immediately back on the job. His workshops are engaging, participative and fun. During his programs participants are engaged and challenged by the material being presented. Lenny has done previous workshops for PHRMA and is delighted to be back doing a session on effective meeting facilitation skills.
